‘I’ve just started here at Hartwig & Bliss as a Residential Sales Agent, and I’m excited to see what’s happening around our local area.
As a local mum to two young kids, the Highfields and Meringandan area holds a special interest for me. Having previously worked in Real Estate before taking some time off to have my kids, I’m excited to be back and jumping into all things property.

What’s happening locally?
The local area continues to be ever-popular! While there are always some uncertainties in the market and around interest rates, our local area is continuing to record solid growth, with plenty of buyers still actively looking.
Buyer demand remains healthy, while good quality stock is still relatively limited. Well-presented properties that are priced correctly are continuing to attract strong buyer interest. That said, buyers do seem to be becoming more selective about where and how they spend their money. Spring and the later part of the year are traditionally a great time to sell, and our properties certainly look their best with beautiful gardens, green grass and everything looking fresh and inviting — if only we could get some of that rain we’re so desperately needing!

Market Report with Wade + Crows Nest Sale Update
AT THE SALEYARDS
Bulls are making $4.00-$4.50, depending on the yield. Returning great results for our vendors
Bullocks: 0–4 tooth bullocks are making up to $4.70/kg, with full-mouth bullocks around $4.10/kg, dearer on last month’s quote
Feeder Steers are scarce. Steers will make $4.90-$5.50for the pen lots. Breed, quality, and weight are always the key. Any decent feeders are making well north of $5
Cull Cows making $3.70-$4.00, Firm on last month.
Store cows will make up to$3.40- $3.70 for young cows for the cows with medium to large frame
Feeder Heifers will make $5.20-$5.50, the good quality heifers in the weight specs are making as much as their brothers
Weaner Heifers: good quality flat-back types are selling ok, while the rougher nondescript types are hit and miss depending on content $3.5–$5.20/kg. this category is up and down and all over the place depending on buyers who attend the sales
Trade Weight/ Backgrounder Steers $5.30-$5.60
Lightweight weaner steers calves are still selling well with quality the key; they will make well north of $5 if they’re good. With the pure Angus portion closer to $6
Cows & Calves are tuff not enough to quote with any consistently - These have been a better option being split.
Kill job is good with grids still holding comparative to the market place.

CROWS NEST CATTLE SALE
Due to the present seasonal conditions, our judgement has been that the Crows Nest Cattle Sale is not the right avenue for our vendors to get the best results for their cattle. Buyer confidence in the local area remains fairly low, however we have been consistently marketing cattle in various saleyards and other avenues to get the best possible results for our clients, and will remain doing so until we feel the Crows Nest Sale is the right avenue for our vendors once again.

Meringandan 150 Years Celebration
It was wonderful to help out at the Meringandan School’s 150th Celebrations last Saturday!
What a fantastic turnout for such a special milestone. Congratulations to everyone involved in putting together such an amazing day — We were proud to be a part of it!

Spring is here and there’s plenty happening across the business. It’s been a busy few weeks with the new office, cattle trading and another online auction all keeping us on our toes.
Property Update
The new office is up and running and it’s been great to get settled in and have a good base for the business. We’re looking forward to having plenty of clients and friends drop in for a coffee and a chat over the coming months.
The property market has settled into a more cautious period, but there are still plenty of genuine buyers looking for the right property. We continue to have buyers looking for residential homes, lifestyle properties and rural holdings across the region.

Cattle Update
There are some very good opportunities around for cattle at the moment, particularly for good British-bred and Euro-cross cattle in the 220–380kg range. We are currently getting some good on-farm rates for 2–3 deck loads going into buyers in NSW, which is creating some handy opportunities for anyone with suitable cattle available.
We can also help if you don’t have a full load. If you’ve got 10 head or more, give us a call and we can look at putting together smaller lots and organising a delivered and weighed price into Kingsthorpe.
By combining a few smaller consignments, we can put together larger loads and give smaller operators access to markets that can otherwise be difficult to reach with limited numbers.
If you’ve got cattle coming on, particularly good British-bred or Euro-cross cattle between 220 and 380kg, give me a call and let’s have a chat about what they’re worth and where we can place them.
Online Multi Vendor Auction
Entries have now closed for our next Online Multi Vendor Auction, with the sale kicking off next Thursday, 10 September.
We’re still uploading the last of the items, but there’s already a good mix of quality gear, including a heap of horse floats and plenty of cattle feeding equipment. There’s some good gear in the sale, so be sure to have a look through the catalogue and see what’s there.
